Chemist Repeat Prescription Request Service

Most local chemists offer a repeat prescription request service. You can contact your pharmacy and ask that they request your medication on your behalf.

In person At The Practice By Completing A Request Form

You can also fill out a written request for your medication(s) at the practice. Please ensure that you include your name and date of birth on your request.

By Post

You can post your prescription slip or written request to us. You must include a stamped addressed envelope for return by post if you will not be able to pick up your prescription from the Surgery (please allow extra time for any possible delays with the postal service).

Medication can be requested 14 days in advance, anything before this timeframe, the request will be rejected unless there is a valid reason as to why the request is early. For controlled drugs, we will not generally issue these earlier than 3 days in advance unless there is a valid reason as to why the request is early.

Questions About Your Prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

How Do I Get An Urgent Prescription?

I have run out of my medication - can I have an urgent prescription?

Due to the increasing numbers of patients requesting their prescription on an urgent basis, the practice has needed to instate an urgent prescription policy.

How Do I Get A Private Prescription?

Private prescriptions issued by our practice will no longer be posted to a patient's nominate pharmacy. Instead, we kindly request that all patients collect their private prescriptions in person at our practice.

If you find it more convenient, you may provide us with a stamped envelope along with your prescription request, and we will be happy to mail it to you.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to streamline our services.

What Happens If I Go Abroad?

If you're taking medicines for a health condition, and you're planning on being away from home for a while, it's good to be prepared.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.

Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
