Pharmacy and Self Care

See a Pharmacist

Patients can now get treatment for seven common conditions directly from their local pharmacy, without the need for a GP appointment or prescription.

But what does it cover and who will benefit? Here's everything you need to know.

We are also now able to refer our patients to Community Pharmacists for minor illness conditions for a same day consultation. Further information can be found on our CPCS page

Book an Appointment

Book an Appointment

Patients and receptionists cannot book directly into GP appointments. All GP appointment requests are reviewed by a clinician before being booked as part of our Total Triage appointment system

We usually respond quickly and often offer same-day appointments for urgent problems or appointments within a week for less urgent problems. Please only complete the request form when you are ready to receive a response or phone call and are available for an appointment. The NHS can only provide care while you are in the UK, so please do not submit a request if you are abroad.

You can submit an appointment request in several different ways:

We offer face-to-face and telephone consultations and will offer you the best appointment for your needs. Sometimes we can respond to your consultation by text message. If you need an examination or test, we will ask you to come in.

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult by phone, face-to-face, or by text/email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Whether you make your request by phone, on-line or visiting us we will consider your request for an appointment or medical advice in the same way. We will tell you either the same day or the following day what will happen next.

This could be:

  • An appointment that day or a subsequent day
  • A phone call that day or a subsequent day
  • A text message responding to your query
  • Advice to go to a pharmacy or another NHS service

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

If you are unable to come to the surgery, please try to make your request for a visit before 11am and if possible please tell the receptionist the reason why you are requesting a visit so that we can prioritise these calls.

Where possible you will see your usual doctor.

In the time it takes a doctor to see one patient at home, we can see four patients in the surgery, so we appreciate it if you can come to the surgery when ever possible.

Visits are usually made after morning surgery, or early afternoon.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

You can cancel your appointment via text. All patients should receive a text reminder 1 day before their scheduled appointment. You can simply respond with the word 'CANCEL' should you wish to cancel your appointment. If you have recently updated your contact details, please update the practice here.
